Honda Civic Hybrid (2006)
Hello,
I have a question I would like to ask. We recently got the Honda Civic Hybrid (2006) and we noticed that when we are uphill and the car is on "D" it goes backwards. Now we never had this with any other automotive car before. Today we took it for the first service and they told us that this is how all the new Honda cars are. Does anyone know if this is true?? |

Re: Honda Civic Hybrid (2006)
I am not sure, I bought a manual. How much does it drift backward? Is it as bad as if it were in neutral?

Re: Honda Civic Hybrid (2006)
Many owners of auto 7th generation Civics ( 01-05 ) complain of the same problem ( My 05 drifts back )
I would say it is normal. It IS quite similar to a standard on a hill. Takes a little getting used to. |

Re: Honda Civic Hybrid (2006)
Maybe Honda made the trans nearly fully disengage when you are not giving it any throttle. Strange.

Re: Honda Civic Hybrid (2006)
Tested my car out today on a a hill...Did not roll back at all..Is this something only the Civic will do?
EDIT: Looks to be known However, there are a few things a Civic Hybrid driver has to get used to - for one thing, the noise, or lack thereof, when you stop. For most full stops, say, at a traffic light or any time remotely close to rush hour, the car shuts off entirely. This saves energy, as the electric motor does not need to run while the car is not in motion. But the quiet can be disconcerting at first. When on a slope, it also can lead to a little rollback like a standard car shifting from neutral to first. But that's only if you're not right on the brake. http://mixedpower.com/modules.php?na...ticle&sid=1331 Last edited by BrodyP; 02-13-2007 at 08:36 AM. |
