Re: hardwire iPOD?
I have the same type of question-
I hate the RF modulator and have a few choices- I have the 2000 stock stereo with no cassette player- is it worth finding one on ebay with a casette player to use the cassette input? What other Nissan models fit the Xterra? Pathfinder/frontier, altima? Or is it worth it to just find a deck from a retailer with RCA or other inputs? Thanks! |

Haven't tried it yet, but this might do it
check out this web page for a possible solution. I'm in the same boat as you, looking for a solution, and I found this. I haven't bought it yet, though, so I can't tell you how it is.

Found another one. It's more expensive, but Best Buy has it if that makes you more comfortable.

I replyed Earlier to this question. All 8 pin plugs are not created equally or the same. the pin configuration may have the power and ground posts in different arrangement. This would cause a direct short. AKA big problem. I played around with the above connectors on my bench testing set-up at home I could not find one that had the power wire in the correct location . I used an Ohm meter and an electronic scope to be sure. It's a no go . It's what I do for a living so I feel that I am knowledgeable about this. Good luck . |

Re: hardwire iPOD?
for my last 2001 xterra, single disc CD and tape combo head unit, I was able to pick up a USASpec AUX input adapter. If your head unit has a CD changer port on the back (looks almost identical to the normal harness plug) then you can get an AUX in adapter (emulates an external CD changer and pushes aux audio to the head unit)
for those of you with an 02-04 SE Rockford Fosgate stock setup, modding is necessary to get your ipod or aux input. Nissan didn't start adding an actual AUX input in the fosgate units until the 07 xterra, and took until 05 to add a SAT port (aux in adapters available for SAT emulation.) (see next post) -waltman |

Re: hardwire iPOD?
for those of you with 02-04 xterra se rockford fosgate systems, there is a technical mod for your head unit to accept a true AUX input. I'll be posting instructions later on this week, hopefully.
