99 Silverado Wont Start - EMERGENCY

Have a 99 Silverado and the transmission was replace. The truck
wont start now . The battery was disconnected during the install.
I dont have a remote to the truck. Is the truck in security mode because the battery was disconnected, and if so how can I bypass it.
The shop wants to send it to the dealer. HELP......

Re: 99 Silverado Wont Start - EMERGENCY

What exactly is happening? Does it act like the battery's dead? etc??

Did they disconnect both battery terminals?

If yes they probably put them back on backward.

Double check and then check all you fuse in the engine bay.

Time to get a lawyer and sue, or just do it my way, break the owners knees. Works every time.

I second the neutral safety switch since the trans shop had it off when they did the trans. It may either be faulty, not connected or not adjusted if it is adjustable. Try starting the truck in neutral and all the other gears. You can even move the shifter part ways between two gears and try it.

seems to me that this problem should be the shops responsibility. did you drive it home from the shop after the tranny was changed? did it start then? and now it wont?

did you have this problem prior to the shop working on your truck?

if not, tell THEM to fix it. it shouldnt be your problem.

and lawyer up

Won't Start In Park

1999 Silverado Extended Cab, 4.8L V-8, Automatic.

Truck wouldn't start. Thought it was a dead battery. Used my battery booster/jumper, absolutely nothing!

Put transmission in neutral and it started up fine. I put it back in Park and nothing. I thought it was the PNP Switch so I took it down to the dealer and had it checked out. PNP Switch was fine, it was the shift cable. It was bent and had to be replaced. When putting it in park the cable would bend and not fully put the transmission in park. Since cable was from the steering column to the transmission, I let the dealer take care of it.

I thought I might be able to drive it for awhile with the bent cable and just start it in Neutral but thought that if I continued using it in that condition it would eventually break and I would be dead in the water. Had it fixed immediately. $350

Re: 99 Silverado Wont Start - EMERGENCY

neutral safety switch was revised--make sure they installed a new one no matter what...sounds like not a good connection on the battery...side post terminals are notorious for this

I had the same thing happen, only I did it myself with a friend.
Mine turns over, but won't start?
Fuel Pump is 6 months old, but I don't hear it..should I?
Anyone one know what may have happened during the tranny swap to make it turn but not start?

Thanks!

Wow, it does NOT seem like 1999 was nearly 7 years ago...

Re: 99 Silverado Wont Start - EMERGENCY

SAME HERE! Have a 99 Silverado and the transmission worked on. The truck
wont start now eventhough I was able to drive it around for a few hours after getting it from the shop, radio says LOC. try starting it in neutral did not work try starting it with both doors manualy locked and that didn't work. I dont get a turn over I don't get anything. It can't be the battery becouse I tryed starting it while getting a jump still no go and yes the security light is flashing. Maybe the clicker is not sending out the right single even though it'll open and lock the doors and beep the horn? I think it's the security. If it is woundn't this be Chevrolet's fault not mine?
