The slot number 8 in the fusebox controls the interior lights, the electronic gas flap and the ignition lock that makes this buzzy sound. My problem is that when I put in the #15 fuse, the interior light is on no matter what (Yes even with no keys and doors shut).
. Could somebody please help me because I dont want to unscrew the flap to the fusebox every time I need to get gas. Need help quick!!!

Re: 1986 GT fuse problem with interior lighting.
Trace the wires for the switch to the interior lights. Also some of Fords electrical connections are bad to melt, such as the ignition switch. Otherwise all I know to tell you is to pop the trunk and pull the handle for the gas door.
Also check to make sure the door contancts are working properly.

Re: 1986 GT fuse problem with interior lighting.
I'm not familiar with your vehicle, but here in the UK, most cars would have a three-position switch for the interior light, with the settings working as follows:
1. Always on 2. Always off 3. Auto (switched via the door switches) If your light has that three-position switch then the 'Always off' setting should override everything, even if you had, for example, a faulty door switch. So if you have that type of switch and if the light stays on even when on the 'Always off' setting then your fault would be right there at the switch. Perhaps it isn't wired that way though, in which case I probably couldn't help without seeing a wiring diagram. |

Re: 1986 GT fuse problem with interior lighting.
Hmmm, we might be talking about different things. Here in the UK, any kind of a standard car, and certainly one dating back to '86, would have a small plastic dome light fitted somewhere up front, overhead, in the car interior. It's the light which you would use if you stopped and wanted to read a map. It's a small plastic housing which clips into the headlining, and the switch is right there on the plastic assembly, beside the lamp itself. They normally just clip into position and can be pulled free with one's fingers or prised free with a small screwdriver, upon which the lamp is accessible for replacement purposes, and the switch and the electrical connectors are also readily accessible.
I'm talking about one of these: |

Re: 1986 GT fuse problem with interior lighting.
Just pull the bulb out, lol. J/K.
I dont think your car has such switch. I know what he is talking about, its normally a 3-way lever that is part of the dome light assembly.
