Question on replacing oil pan on 98 grand prix
I was told that in order to replace the oil pan and gasket on my 1998 Grand Prix GT I would have to raise and tilt the engine. I would like to know if that is correct and if there are any tips or pointers to getting the job done. Thank you.
Also it is the 3.8 liter with about 140,000 Last edited by mboyer82; 02-09-2007 at 04:43 PM. |

Re: Question on replacing oil pan on 98 grand prix
Welcome to AF!!
The clearance for the oil pan is so tight that you must raise the engine and tilt it so that you can gain enough clearance to remove the oil pan. This is the only way to change the pan or the gasket. This is an expensive job if you have a mechanic do it for you. Good Luck! |
