01 cavalier radio LOC

Hey everyone,
I know you guys have probably seen this a hundred times and im sorry but I have a little different problem besides my radio being locked. Whenever I go to use the steps to get the code I can never get the radio to turn off. It stays on all the time unless I open the door. Now this is a radio i bought stock radio I had was aftermarket but ended up dying on me. Any sugestions I want to unlock it but I cant even get it to turn off ive tried everything. thanks in advance and again sorry
also it doesnt say rds anywhere on it so its not that

the cd player is locked its says LOC and the only way it can turn off is if i open the door like usual but i cannot turn it off using the power button and when i hold the preset buttons down it does nothing.
sorry when i said unlock i meant unlock the radio

All the wiring is original, nothing cut or spliced ? Soon as you turn key on it displays "LOC" and not "LOCKED" correct. if you have not turned key on there is nothing on display ....Correct?

yes that is correct no spliced wires all original and its says LOC and only when i turn the key

so you have turned the key to on position , and held down the preset 2 and 3 for six seconds , and nothing changes ?

correct it just says loc now my cavalier came stock with a tape player its a lower model and after my jvc died i figured i would just get this assuming it was compatible

look this procedure over and see if you missed anything.(lots of crap you don`t need ,but you`ll figure it out )http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=310354. hopefully it will help ,if not maybe it has to go back to dealer.......unfortunately. MY `00 sunfire came stock with el cheapo tape player /stereo also . The monsoon stereo I put in it was out of a `01 Grand Am . It Displayed "LOCKED" .I had to take it to dealer to have it scanned /retrained. LET US know if this works

well i tried it a couple times nothing but the guy said he will send me an unlocked one so hopefully that will work but idk
