1997 Ford F-150 tranny problem

I have a 1997 Ford F-150 4X4. When I put it in drive it drags on acceleration. Once it gets going the tranny shifts fine. Shifts fine in reverse. I have checked the fluid and it is fine. Any suggestions what the problem may be?

I have never saw a transmission drag on acceleration.
Please describe what all it is doing or not doing?
Any check engine lights on?
What engine and transmission and mileage.
Remember that a engine has to be running good for a transmission to work good?
What is the tune up and transmission service history?
