Ranger Mass Air Sensor code

I have a 94 Ranger with 2.3 and 5 speed. It continues to die infrequently. I bought a code reader which indicates code 157. I looked up the code it it indicates that it is the Mass Air Intake sensor. Can this sensor kill the engine? If I let the car sit for a while, it will restart again. otherwise the truck runs great. Thanks you

It can kill it or make it run so bad it will think it is dead.
The code is for internal fail on MAF.
But check wiring and plug in and make sure it is plugged in.
Might clear code and see if it returns first.
