idle problem

when i drive my car and put it in neutral my car will idle at 2000 rpm and say if im at 3000 it will go down realy slow to 2000 untill i reach 5mph then it srops to 1500. instead of being aorund the 1000 that its supposed to be at.

i took it to the locol checkers auto store they hooked up the scanner and scanned my car it came back with no errors, would any of you suggest that it could be either the IAC or the TPS sensors?

Re: idle problem

did you remove the IAC from the throttle body to clean it?

you can test the TPS to see if its working properly with a multimeter.

i heard you can spray WD40 around the vac lines to find leaks, engine should rev up

yes i removed it and cleaned it, and i dont have a multimeter i guess ill have to buy one lol, and ill have to try the WD40,

but i think i may have fixed it, is what i did what have the car warm up unplg the TPS and the idle went down to were it was suppsed to be then i pluged it in to go to the store and it ran like crap so on the way back homd i just drove with the TPS unplugged and let it run for about 10 min when i got home then shut off the car. then i pulled all the ECU fuses cuz i wasnt sure which one was the main fuse (there was 3). then i disconnected the neg end of the battery. let it set for 2 hours.

now that when i drive it drops straight between 1200 and 1300 rpms in neutral and then down to about 900-1000 when i reach 5mph, so it works alot better now then when it did before but i still think im gona buy a new one. but the one i have will work for now.
