One car, 7 views

I finally found time to think about a design and then laying it down in 7 quick renderings.

A Ford Convertible, based on the new Mondeo.

I only used a ballpoint for the lines, so I couldn't correct bigger mistakes. Some things are wrong, proportions don't always fit, butI'm quite happy with them.

I sometimes think I'm more honest to myself when I do them ballpoint directly. If I took a pencil and an eraser, I wouldn't see what I did wrong in the end.

Beside the ballpoint I used a felt tip and 3 Copic marker.

Re: One car, 7 views

I love it except the ront. It looks too much like a Audi.. (yughh..) Just IMO.
Other than that the style looks cool and so on.

You have great sketching skills! I wouldn't even want to try.

Fords are cool. B

Re: One car, 7 views

hey robin,
i like the way u quickly color your cars. looks sketchy and is highly expressive. the red goes perfectly with the light blue. your shading has improved. you got to work on your ellipses though. e.g. those of the upper left view are to much closed and got a strange angle. try to draw the box and relate to distant lines in order to achieve a similar shape in all of your views. remember the "perspektivische verkürzung" ^^. the design is up to date. looks fresh and sporty. like it. try to avoid those thick lines like in the lower left view.
apart from that: big up yourself. keep working

Re: One car, 7 views

Thank you very much to all of you.

I'm also not quite happy with the front yet, I might take a look at the new Fords how they solved it. It looks a bit too static and conservative to me aswell.

Regarding your tips on perspective, I must really say that whenever I look at it now, it looks worse and worse ;-)

There are many items I overlooked when I did it. There are others which I were already aware of. I guess improvement comes slowly, so there are a lot new sketches to do...

Re: One car, 7 views

your damn right. it will take some years till one has internalized pespective to the bones. but your on your way. concerning the fordlook: i think in some views you already implied that new fordlook like in the middle-left one. but; you should try to make the headlightline correspond with the glasshouseline so that you come up with a nice swing that ends at the lowest peak of the headlights. then youll truely achieve that fordlook youre heading for.
-_-;

Re: One car, 7 views

nice style. you are getting better. but car looks like typical new Audi. get out of the box a bit. study something other than cars to be influenced by. be influenced with fresh ideas by looking at the sky, clouds, trees, buildings. not cars.

if all you look at are cars, you will begin to draw cars that have already been made.
