Gurkha > Hummer

The Armet Armored Vehicle company's Gurkha Armored Transport:

News

top speed: "more than 150km/h"
weight: 8,620kg
I suppose most stats are hidden for safety.

"Whyte (owner of Armet Armored Vehicles) says the first 40 have been built this year for delivery to the Canadian and the American military in the Middle East. The first civilian delivery is for a "well-known personality" in California that will take place next month, Whyte says. The customer, who is a friend of California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, intends to use it as daily transport,..."

""It's not just heads of state or politicians who are asking for security — it could be anyone today," says Chris Pecalevski, of Armet competitor Inkas armoured vehicle manufacturing in Toronto."

There are companies who do make less conspicuous armored vehicles, such as armored Suburbans (for those truly looking to be safe) and Lincoln Town cars, but its obvious that the only people who will buy this will be those who just want to put 24in rims on it, irregardless of the safety it offers.

"Unlike the over-the-top Gurkha, likely to find a niche among celebrities who crave a bling factor, most clients want discreet armour so as not to tip off potential assailants, Pecalevski says."

Something had to replace the Hummer fad...

Re: Gurkha > Hummer

Lol, Gurka means Cucumber in Swedish.

Oh and i'd rather have that one than a H2. Sure, 150kmh, but i sure wouldn't want to go faster in an H2.

Re: Gurkha > Hummer

Gurkas are bad ass. They are gaurds from Nepal. We had them in iraq in the green zone. They are no joke and are very tough. I think its bad ass that a beast of a vehical carries the name. I wouldn't even begin to compare this to an H2. Maybe an armored military Hummer would be a fair comparo.
