Keep the Jetta, or trade for the Blazer?

I work for a dealership as a detail helper, and one of the conveniences I have is that if my car for some reason is undriveable, they let me borrow a trade-in that hasn't been detailed. I've had to do this for the past few days, and today, I got to drive a 94 Blazer which is in very good shape, and they want $6,000 for it. I currently have a 95 Jetta, with 184,xxx on it, its a 5-speed and its got the 2.0 liter engine. The Blazer has 134,xxx on it, with the 4.3 liter vortec engine, but its an automatic. The problem is, I owe my parents about $7,000, but they said I can pay them about $300 a month, cause of rent. I can get a deal on the Blazer cause I work there, but I'm wondering, do I keep my Jetta, or do I trade it in and try to get a deal on the Blazer?

Re: Keep the Jetta, or trade for the Blazer?

what do you plan to use it for? I got a 98 blazer and i will say that it's definitely NOT a vehicle for solely commuter use. i get 13 mpg on average and i drive like shit. Only reason i'm driving this instead of a subaru wagon is the blazer was in better condition than other vehicles i looked at plus is nice for driving long distance. blazer's need money to stay running right too. keep the jetta and make fun of us SUV owners who have to deal with the extra hassles of a truck that you don't have to.

Re: Keep the Jetta, or trade for the Blazer?

I found out today that the dealership is selling it to a wholesale lot for about $900, so I could get it for a hell of a lot cheaper than 6 grand. I've grown rather fond of blazers, cause my mom's had her 86 blazer for about 3 years, the only major thing she's had done to it was had the radiator replaced, and it still runs like a champ. I'm not too worried about the crappy mileage part, I figure I would get shit for mileage, cause I drive like a fuckin hot rod.

blazers are nice, though i think they're only so-so in quality. If you like it then get it, but definitely get a better price as my 98 cost about 6 grand.
