Mclaren Service Centres

After reading about the Schaefers cars in a thread earlier today, I was wondering where the other Mclaren F1 service centres are?

I have heard of one in LA (Leno was heard quoting this, stating there are "about 8 F1's" in California), Schaefers, Woking, Sydney(?), ELG Engineering in Japan, any more?

Re: Mclaren Service Centres

The one in Los Angeles is actually at the BMW Port of Entry and Vehicle Prep Center at Port Hueneme in Oxnard, CA.

Address: 5650 Arcturus Avenue Oxnard, CA - (Satellite photo)

Don't bother driving by in hopes of spotting an F1 - even people who have been given tours of the facility have not had any luck in seeing the F1s. That area is even off limits to most of the staff, I was told.

The other service center in the USA is in Montvale, NJ (I think), but I am having trouble locating the address at the moment.

I believe there were a total of 7 in the world, including Woking. The two here, plus Schaefer in Germany and ELG in Japan, makes 5. I don't know exactly where the other two would be, assuming I am right about the total number.

EDIT: I forgot about BMW of Sydney that took care of (in more ways than one ) chassis #009 for so many years. I guess that would be considered one. Leaves us with one left to account for - maybe something in South Africa?

Re: Mclaren Service Centres

A good bet would be the middle east, my guess would be Dubai.

Re: Mclaren Service Centres

No, the Dubai owner just has a private mechanic. The8 official centers, as told to me by the factory a few years ago, are:
USA - Oxnard BMW facility - Los Angeles
USA - Montvale BMW facility - New Jersey
England - factory
Sweden
Germany
Japan - ELG
Australia - BMW of Sydney
New Zealand (probably not counted as a current service center, and I would think that there are probably efforts afoot to replace it with one in South Africa)

Edit: Just read Peloton's post - we think alike!

Re: Mclaren Service Centres

I'm not sure about South Africa. I went to the BMW dealership in Cape Town almost 7 years ago. Very nice place and it's not like your run-of-the-mill BMW dealer. They had Z1 on display. They even had part of the Berlin wall there.

Re: Mclaren Service Centres

Some owners may have used SPS, but I don't think they are on the official list. I know that cars that lived in Switzerland made their way to Schaefer at times, so I wouldn't think there is a servicing center there.

Also, it's possible to have your own private mechanic trained by McLaren to work on the car and several owners have gone that route.

Sweden?... are you sure... sounds abit odd... I suppose they ment Mclaren had a deal with a local dealer/workshop.
