crank pulley won't turn

My serpent belt was burning stopped and car died. On further check my crank pulley will not turn freely. What kind of problem is this? I have a 93 lumina with a 3.1 engine.

Re: crank pulley won't turn

Crank pully? Are you trying to turn it with your hands? The "Crank" pulley shouldn't turn with much less than a socket on the end of a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar.

If belt was burning and car was running, sounds more like the AC compressor, altinator, or power steering locked up. which will also stop crank from turning if the belt is still on the engine. (possibe also the belt tensioner locked up)
