galant 2.5 v6 auto gear box

hi i have a 1998 2.5 v6 gallant & the auto gear box has just went dead. the gear selector moves fine & the fluid level is fine but it just wont budge it just sits & revs away. i was doing about 60mph & the box just failed anyone have any ideas..thanks

Could be a torque converter? Is the N light flashing on the dashboard? Which country are you in? If it is the UK or NZ then you would do worse than visit www.clubvr4.com

i'm in the uk m8, no n light flashing on the dash just no movement

Did you get anywhere with this?

Apparently the torque convertor splines are prone to failure. If that is the case, both sets of splines will need re-conditioning. If you just replace the TC then it will do the same again.

For a replacement unit, see the banner ad on clubvr4 for galant spares. The guy that runs that is based in Blackburn, but delivers second hand parts all over the UK.

i've not even made an attempt yet but i will probably just change the whole box with one from a breakers yard..thanks
