Remote door lock question

I have a 95 Lumina with the remote door/trunk unlock fob. I am thinking of replacing it with a 96 Lumina that is much better shape. The 96 has power door locks but no remote. I want to transfer the remote hardware from the 95 to the 96. Is this possible? Has anyone ever done this? Where is the remote receiver located? Would the wiring harness on the 96 even have the needed wires? Thanks, bstrom1953.

Re: Remote door lock question

I've installed the third-party remote to Lumina97 that had a power lock (but no remote at all) - it's not a big deal if you have a diagram. So, the answer is "yes, it's doable".
Unfortunately, I can't say about the location of the remote modules since I didn't have any.

BTW, the remote (with the control module) that switches up to 4 pair of contacts on and off costs $40 at Pepboys.

Re: Remote door lock question

PM me with the last 8 digits of both car's vin's and I can tell you if it's even possible. The 96 or 97 model year is when GM switched from the square transmitter to the egg shaped one, and they are not wired the same, or interchangeable due to the differences in security module/BCM wiring.
