LT1 Tune up

Well i'm thinking of building my own lt1383 cause everyone say's i can get more for 6k for what there charging me. Well my next question is how hard is it to do a major tune up in my lt1? I called gm Goodwrench and they want $1,350 dollars for it? What the fuck is that about? Does anyone know of a cheaper place?

Re: LT1 Tune up

Do it yourself. If you take your time and contort your body a little its not a huge deal. The number two spark plug is the biggest pain. The rear plugs are easier to change from under the car.

As for the rest of the maintaince its fairy simple as long as you replace one wire and one plug at a time and route the wire the same way it is now. If you plan on doing the cap and rotor as part of the tune up. This will involve removing the water pump and fans among the other things and distributor. Not a very difficult job though. Good luck.

Re: LT1 Tune up

Yes, the majority of the electric pumps are very dependalbe and typically last as long as there mechanical counterpart. Might be a good idea to get a safety light set up to make sure the pump is functioning instead of the temp gauge giving away any possible future issue but I would recommend going electric. Especially since I did as well.

Re: LT1 Tune up

i have a meziere electric in mine for about 4 years now....no problems. Just gotta make sure you run the wires so they don't get burnt or disconnected.
Pick up a little boost in HP as well. Install takes about 4 hrs...gotta take out the old crap and take the fan out and modify it with a dremal...pretty easy.
