all 3/S's from the factory either had no sunroof, power sunroof, or manual removable moonroof. Now I know that there is one guy who converted his to a targa top.

Not from the Mitsubishi factory it didn't. Those came out of ASC?

no with the hard top convertable, they came from the factory with out the roof, some company put the retractable roof on, but there was some other company that would take hardtops and make them convertables, they are really well done knockof's, only way to tell its not real is by the vin

There are some soft top convertibles out there, but I have never heard of a hard top knock off. Im not sure you realize all the work that went into making it a hard top convertable, and if there were "knock offs" out there then I'm sure the spyder owners would love to know about them, because they might be able to get parts when theirs break. Care to back up that claim?
