Ok I've read all the long threads about possiblities of the two light
combo's, but I have a clicking issue. When I hit the brake in park, I hear clicking in the automatic shift case. Its only when I hit the brake and its never happened before. I do smell a strong smell, could be exhaust because I'm paranoid but was hoping someone could tell me if the clicking and the light combos is something I should be very worried about. Thanks guys.

Re: Trans light flasing/CEL on / Weird smell and clicking
what year? How many miles. History of the trans fluid. Level of the trans fluid.

Re: Trans light flasing/CEL on / Weird smell and clicking
Does the clicking happen continuously or only once when you apply the brake? I'm guessing its the shifter relase solenoid that is clicking. Supposed to lock the shifter in park until you step on the brake.

As for the clicking, it happens once when I apply the brake, then once again after I release the brake. This is when the vehicle is on and in park. |

Re: Trans light flasing/CEL on / Weird smell and clicking
isn't that just the safty switch that make you have to put you foot on the brake before it will let you take it out of park? Maybe it is a little louder then normal.

Re: Trans light flasing/CEL on / Weird smell and clicking
The noise sounds like the typical brake pedal noise.
Transmission fluid - when was the last time it was changed? If it's never been changed, I would ONLY do partial fluid swaps, as changing all at one time can generally sign the transmissions life away. Do not wait too long before doing something with that fluid, the GM 4L30-E auto tranny's in these Rodeo's do NOT like dirty fluid, I don't suggest anyone going over 30k without a total fluid swap, or 15-20k with partial fluid swap.
