video card drivers

i started up my laptop the other day and it froze. badly.
i had to just power it off.

when i restarted it, it gave me a message that there was some problem with the graphics card driver and i either needed to change my graphics acceleration settings (which it said was not recommended) or install a new driver (which was recommended)

i went to the website and looked around for a while and couldnt find anything for my specific card.

the card i have is an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 with 512 of video memory.

here is the website they gave me
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

anyway, i was wondering what i should do.

Re: video card drivers

If you click on that link and select "graphics driver" inthe next pane you should see "To Go 7 series" then just select the only option you have in the next pane which should be "Windows 2000/XP."

Re: video card drivers

Are you sure you have the right card? I have never heard of a Go 7400 laptop card with 512 MB of RAM. Most have < 256 MB.

Re: video card drivers

Well you proved me wrong. That's a helluva card for a laptop. What brand is it?

Did you try updating the driver through Device Manager? It might find something that will suit your card through Windows Update and you can see if it takes care of your problem. If not, I would contact Nvidia about it and see if they can provide any insight as to why it is calling for a different driver. They may even give you a link to the driver you need.
