Cold air intakes

I have a 2001 Tahoe with 5.3 it runs very nice but it gets poorer mileage than my 98 Tahoe with a 5.7. So I was looking at adding a cold air intake and maybe a new exhuast. I would like some feed back on doing this to a 5.3, does it make a Real differance? Is it worth the money?? What have your experinces been? Also any ideas on why my old 5.7 gets better mileage than my 5.3?

Thanks,
RAE.

Cold air intake will not help gas mileage.
You should already have a on road forced cold air intake from fender or grille area.
Only add bigger exhaust from cat back.
May or may not help on mileage.

Re: Cold air intakes

I put a K&N cold air intake on my 02 Tahoe. The two noticable differences I found were in the sound (like a carb with no breather cover) and when towing. I think it helped with the torque of the engine but no change in gas mileage. I agree that a cat-back exhaust would complement this mod but I haven't mustered up the $$$$ to go for the Borla cat-back that I have been drueling over for the past couple of years. I would say go for the cold air intake for starters and work your way back.
