98 Intrigue issues. ABS & Brake light & transmission problems

Hello all. newbie here. I have searched the forums high and low for the symptoms I am experianceing and although there are some similarities nothing seems to be exactly what I am experiencing.

so with that said here is my problem (try to make short and sweet)

1) get into car step on break pedal and start car --- abs and brake light come on
2) get into car dont step on break pedal and start car and let it go through all start up codes -----abs and brake light dont seem to come on (every once in a great while they do though)

3) driving down the road 30MPH and 60 MPH there is a studder in movement. at first I thought it was the transmission shifting from 2nd to 3rd and it would studder but I am wondeirng if the break lights and abs lights have any thing to do with this?

I took the car to a tranny shop and they could not pull up any codes. as for the abs and brake lights I havnt had any thing checked out yet. but the abs fuse had been blown and I was told that was replaced.

any one have any ideas why my car would be doing this?

Re: 98 Intrigue issues. ABS & Brake light & transmission problems

I'm a newbie to this forum, but i'll tell ya my prob and how i fixed it.

I currently have the same problem on my 98 intrigue (auto) , I lifted the car up on a hoist and looked at all the abs sensors connected to the bearing, and my front passenger sensor wire that connected to the bearing was cut. I temp fixed it with butt connecters and the lights went off and the car drove better and steering wasn't as hard as when the lights were on, along with the braking.
but it came back on after a few months so i went out and bought a new hub/bearing/abs sensor (aftermarket) and Im replacing that next week.

My transmission does the same thing but between 70-80km. Im not to sure what that could be, it may be because of the brake lights on, or it could jsut be something else. Sometimes I dont stop fully before i change from reverse to drive so that could cause that problem for the transmission. but again I dont really know. I'll let you know if I have the same problem after i replace the hub/bearing/abs sensor assembly

you should check the sensors and see if the wires or the sensors are damaged. also you can get a volt metre and check the resistance in the harness to see if you have a flow of electricity to the sensor, !!DO NOT CHECK THE RESISTANCE IN THE SENSOR!!, you can send a charge through your car and then you'll have a whole new problem on your hands.

was the light still on after you replaced the blown fuse? and does the trac off light come on?
