What's the best oem replacement battery?

I'm assuming Acdelco, but maybe Duralast? Cody I know you'll have some input on this?

Optima Red top....

We all run them at the shop. Worry free for 3 years if something does wrong with it. Something happens, you get a new one no questions asked.

Re: What's the best oem replacement battery?

That's what I have but, this is for my girls car, she doesn't need to spend more then $100 for a battery. The shop that she always goes to and knows is charging her $115 for the battery and installation. Fucking pricks, shouldn't even be charging her for installation, how long does it take to replace a battery in a jbody? 2-3mins? So she's gonna buy a battery and i'll show her what to do.

Re: What's the best oem replacement battery?

I installed my redtop battery in may.. and took it off the road in sept. I only put 350 miles on the car. It sat for many days on end and no problems starting afterwards.

For a daily driver, stay away from Advance auto's and autozone's battery's. I'll admit our battery's are complete shit. Go Die hard, Interstate, exide or Ac Delco if you can find one cheap.

Re: What's the best oem replacement battery?

i'm an electronics technician, and i just thought i should share a little piece of information with you people. all lead acid car batteries, no matter what the sticker says, are the same. All the brands buy from one supplier and put their own sticker on it. The only difference is the cca's and the warrantys.

The only battery I use now is A C Delcos. Just replaced one in one of my vehicles that was the original and it lasted 9 1/2 years, (it still had life in it, but it was winter and didn't want to push it any longer.) I've had Delcos last on average over 8 years and also have friends and associates whose Delcos also lasted as long. I live in an area that gets all kind of weather extremes from winter temps as low as -30 with wind chills much lower, to summer highs over 100 degrees and my A C Delco batteries have never failed me. You can get a good price on the batteries by going to an A C Delco parts warehouse or supply house. You can find one for your area here-->www.ac-direct.com . I paid $59 for a battery for my '95 Buick Roadmaster and another one for my '97 Venture.
Definitely stay away from WalMart's "Neverstart" oops, I mean "Everstart" . Those are some of the worst batteries I have ever seen . In a 3 year time period, I went through about 5 batteries. Yeah, they have a warranty, but what good is it if you have to keep taking them back, finding out they won't hold a charge, get a new one, install it and have the same thing happen all over again in 6 months.

hmmm, im surprised i didnt catch this earlier

if all batteries are the same, why does that guy's ac delcos usually last him 8 years, and ive never had one of those $30 walmart batteries last more then 2 years?

and usually theres 2 versions of a battery, a good one, and a better one, take walmart for example, they have the everstart, then the everstart maxx, the maxx is supposed to be a better more powerful battery, are you also saying those are identical??

She ended up going to Autozone and they didn't have Ac Delco so she got stuck with a Duralast
