To that. Sorry man, we all know what happens when a timing belt breaks/jumps/skips as many of have had it happen or have seen pictures of those that it happened to. This is not just a DIY'er problem, in my family's experience with "professional" mechanics, I wouldnt trust my car to anyone but me.

Re: Timing....? Ask For Help !!!!

Come on guys, be nice. It's a lot better than some noob threads we get. Moved to the Performance section (or rather, lack of performance, lol),.

Re: Timing....? Ask For Help !!!!

don't scaremonger. Yes that can happen but it doesn't have to. First off if you can rotate your engine freely after changing the belt then you are probably in line with everything. If you check you marks a few times and be sure everything is lined up and marked the old belt and the new one and everything matches you are good.

I had never done one before and just did it. It took me a week cause I had to order a part but I'd say 10-12 hours later I had a new timing belt, all the tensioners, balance shaft belt.

Make sure you tension everything to what the vfaq says and you will be good. If you take your time and do it right you won't screw up the engine.
