Re: Engine Light on after Oil change

Did you check the oil level to see if they remembered to put oil back in the engine?

What year is your Explorer and which engine does it have? If a 1996 or newer, you may be able to borrow an OBD-II scan tool from your local auto parts store and determine why the check engine light is on. If older than 1996, you can check the codes with a jumper wire.

Of course if the oil level is low, there's probably not much need to check for codes.

If it is low, you may want to contact the place that did the oil change before you fill the oil to the proper level, expecially since you have a loud knock.

Check your oil filter,& oil pan drain plug for looseness/leakage.
