1999 Ax4n tranny issue

My 1999 Sable has 149000 on it and I have never had any problems with the tranny, I am just wondering why all the sudden when I put it into Drive it surges and want to shut off. I have always done the transmission maintinence on time since these cars have been known to have bad tranny's! it has just started to do this so it this a sign of a weak torque convertor or what? It has a ax4n transmission

Could be the lock up torq converter. It is locked up and doen't give when the car is not rolling. They tell me their is a electronic switch that can be disconnected to disable the fuction.
