anti freeze ? to use or not to use
i have a 1999 tahoe that has had the intake gasket changed and has been flushed and the green added.. heres my question i heard the dex cool eats gaskets and the greeen eats aluminum, and there is some purple stuff used in mercedes that is better has any one ever heard of the purple coolant?

Daimler uses an OAT coolant in their later cars, very similar to DexCool. So does just about everyone else now. You CAN use the older formula (green) coolants so long as the system has been flushed thoroughly. Just remember that you'll need to change it every two years instead of every five.
That's really novel, since I went just the opposite direction. I changed my '94 and '86 over to DexCool about ten years ago, and have no problems as a result (so far). |

Dexcool does not cause gasket failure!
