98 Explorer AWD front end grinding/whining

I bought this 98 Explorer AWD (as is) a week ago and it had mismatched tires (235/75R15 AT on front and 31/10.50R15 LT on rear) The front tires got real loud (road noise/whining) a day or so after I bought it and I was told the front tires were bad due to the size mismatch binding the AWD. I just put two new tires on the front that match the rear (31/10.50) and it is a lot smoother and quieter so now I can hear a more serious problem.
I have a LOUD grinding/whining noise ONLY when I let off of the accelerator. It does not go away if I turn the wheel, but it does go away as soon as I step on the gas pedal.
Also there is a "clicking" noise that appears to come from the front drive shaft/transfer case area under my drivers seat. It will click from 2-6 times in a couple of feet when i idle forward and backward to try to track the location.
The clicking appears to come from under the driver seat but the grinding/whine seems to come from under the drivers feet area.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated !

the clicking sound is the chain in side the t- case, the chain is skipping, because of the miss matched tires. the whining could be due to bad bearings in the front or rear diff. It may be a good idea to have the IFS and rear diff serviced. all wheel drive vehicales should not have miss match tires for long periods of time. even on a blow out you should have it fixed, the spare should be used only to get to a tirre shop
