Sensative Steering

I know this has been on here a couple times but I have a twist to mine. 97 4dr, when it starts up the power steering works for about 10 to 15 minutes, then the steering gets real sensative. I disconnected the wire at the power steering pump and it is the same problem, but from the start. I have changed the pump and the evo sensor. Also if I turn the truck off then on it restets and I have another 10 minutes or so of driving with tight steering. does anybody have a solution. Is there a relay or switch in the system that can reset? Thanks, Bob
I'm thinking about changing the high pressure hose, does that sound like a poosibility?

Bob: Sorry to be tardy in responding, but summer time means wood splitting time. Yes the VSS has everything to do with the EVO steering system. It sends a signal to the PASSLOCK/EVO module. The faster you drive the less the pressure to the steering unit. So, I would think that your trouble would most likley be the PASSLOCK/EVO module givin your previous descriptions and the fact that the VSS also sends the signal to the speedo and other components, or wiring to the PASSLOCK/EVO module. A good diagnostic scanner can pull up "history" codes that may point you in the right direction............Steve

Sorry for replying late but I have not had internet in a while. What are you saying? Should I change the VSS or invest in a scanner? Where is the passlock evo module? Thanks for your help, I owe you some beer.

Re: Sensative Steering

I'm not sure if anyone wants to know but I have an update. I changed the steering box and the problem is gone. I think I have to flush the system a couple more times to make it a little smoother but I think the box was the problem. Hope this helps somebody else out there.
