1982 98 won't start

I got an 82 98 olds and now it won't start. It will crank once or twice but its like it ain't got enough power to crank itself anymore. The battery is only two months old. Anyone know what could be wrong?

Have you checked your battery voltage, it should have 12.5+Volts with a full charge. Be sure to check both battery cables for corrosion, if found, clean and reinstall. If the battery & cables check out, then I would suspect the starter.
BTW, if your battery is low, you need to check the alternator output!

How would I know if its the starter? It wouldn't be the carburator would it?

If you have 12.5+ volts on the battery,
and its not turning over then I would suspect the starter is bad.

If you remove the starter most parts store will test it for you on thier machine for free.

Also check the starter wires first,
if they are loose it wont work very well.

Re: 1982 98 won't start

Well, we got it to start. It just misses really bad. We dumped so gas down the carburator but it misses terribly and struggles to stay running while the car doesn't have the gas pedal depressed. I guess it can't be the starter now. What would make a car miss so bad that the car wouldn't stay running very well?

Re: 1982 98 won't start

Several things could cause the car to miss.

The carb out of adjustment, ignition system, short in the wiring, fuel contamination .....
