Wink 1998 Isuzu Rodeo 4X4 Updated

Not sure if anyone knows this but, I had an issue with my SUV whenever I put it in 4X4 vehicle was stopping completely while driving and Xfer was making noise. Found out 1 out of the 4 tires my vehicle was driving with was a DIFF SIZE! This can cause your 4X4 to act funny or not work at all. Just an FYI!

That would do it. Could definatly put things in a bind. Even having different sizes between front and back could do it.

Re: 1998 Isuzu Rodeo 4X4 Updated

Hi,
I've found that 4wd is soooo sensitive that even a slight drop in tyre pressure causes vibration/sticking!
Had a BIG problem with Goodyear Wranglers, even though they were all 245x70x16 there was an obvious, although slight, difference in diameter between batches!
Switched to Bridgestone Duellers, now as smooth as silk!

Personally, I had BIG issues with Goodyear as well, I don't think they are a good match for the Isuzu's. Won't EVER buy a Goodyear tire again!

Had two sets of Bridgestone A/T Dueler's, the Dueler's and the Revo's - both were excellent sets and had the truck rolling smooth as silk.

Re: 1998 Isuzu Rodeo 4X4 Updated

I've got a question... I personally have a set of Hoosiers (I'm not sure which model) on my Rodeo. I have been very impressed with their performance in all conditions. Why are Hoosiers never mentioned on this site? Are they just cheapo tires or are the other brands that much better?

Re: 1998 Isuzu Rodeo 4X4 Updated

I purchased my 98 rodeo with mismatched tires. The 4x4 was a little hesitant at times, but I didn't think much of it. I recently put four new Cooper's on it and the 4x4 runs great now compared to before. I couldn't believe the difference. Now reading this post I know why I had the improvement! The Coopers have been great too, Just did 3k road trip over the hollidays and got 18mpg! That is a record for my rodeo!

They are anything but cheap. You might want to check to see if they are DOT approved. I didnt think hoosier made any street legal tires.

They started as, and continue to be, a main supplier of short track race tires. They did have a run about 1990 of making tires for winston cup etc. But mostly they are still short track race tire manufactuers.

Also they are still a small company. They dont have the numbers, advertising, suppliers, or capacity for most ppl to know about them unless they are into racing.

Re: 1998 Isuzu Rodeo 4X4 Updated

I couldn't wait to get the Goodyears off my Jeep. Much better performance, especially for the price, from the Daytons that are on there now. I have Dueler Alenzas on the Rodeo, and they ride great. I only have 4X2, so I can't speak to their performance in 4WD. There are several tires that I won't buy just because I think they get overpriced due to reputation/demand.

Never heard of Hoosiers...

hoosier tire company is essentially a racing tire company, as in the indy500. they also a make a very limited line of street tires

for me, *nothing* beats michelin. i had nothing but problems with the original bridgestones. and nothing but good things, including wear, durability and flat resistance with the michelins.

Re: 1998 Isuzu Rodeo 4X4 Updated

I'm glad that someone has heard of them. Aside from the other ATV afficionados I am so happy with them that I would get another set without shopping around at all. It's nice to not have problems with something for once. (Not that I had a say in picking them in the first place - I bought the Rodeo for $1000, less than a month after the previous owner mounted the brand new Hoosiers ) Now that I think of it, he barely recouped the cost of the tires...

Re: 1998 Isuzu Rodeo 4X4 Updated

Start a new thread. Give more info if you can. What year is it? How many miles on it? Has the cooling system been worked on recently? How old is the heater core? You'll get much help here!
