Re: 00' sir killing too much gas

There's to many things to be covered here.
Is it sluggish? if so, check timing or for a plugged catalytic converter.
Have you replaced timing belt? if so could cam timing be off
from inproper reassembly?
If not, could belt have jumped tooth to throw cam timing off?
All these things should reflect in lower engine performance.
Then there's the std items in tune up parts.
Plugs, dist. cap, rotor etc...
You may have to have diagnostics run at a dealership to
check everything out-that'll tell you for sure.

Cool Re: 00' sir killing too much gas

Take it out and run it real good then check the plugs.
They'll get black when warming up from a cold start but
should turn light color after warming up and running.
Some people will kill the engine while driving and pull over to
get a true plug reading. So idle doesn't effect it.
It has to be fully warmed and ran to clean off the black
cold starting mixture.
If they're black after a good run, you definetly are
running way to rich, and that's your bad milage.
But then you'll still have to figure out why.
