starts and runs at 1500 to 2000 rpm when up to 2500 or more stops if you let up it will run ok, if it quits it will start ok again

Would you expand on the issue a bit more? I'm not sure if you are saying that the idle speed is high when you start the truck, then the engine stalls.

Are you saying you need to step on the accelerator pedal to keep the engine running, and if you don't, the engine stalls, but will restart okay?

Which engine do you have?

Does this only happen when the engine is cold?
