Noise from the AC Compressor

on my 97 Quest. The AC Compressor is making a loud noise and the fly wheel attached seems to be spinning and wiggling at the same time. I can see some particles of metal coming out from where the fly wheel attaches to the AC Compressor (looks like fine glitter). Can I just buy the Fly Wheel or do i need a whole compressor brand new? please help....

Re: Noise from the AC Compressor

I've replaced just the clutch on an A/C compressor before. You'll new a puller to get it off the compressor shaft though. $30 AT NAPA.

kool. so the puller is $30? is it hard to get off with the puller? any need to move the compressor at all / or there is enough room to change it?

Re: Noise from the AC Compressor

I've never down one on an Xterra. So you very well might have to loosen things or remove them to make room for the puller. Worth a shot to try and figure it out.
