Yea so guess what the cops want now.

Yea so last night I am driving to my g/fs house with no problems untill... dun dun dun.
I am going to try to describe this with no pictures so bear with me.
I am stopping at a red light to turn right at the south end of an intersection and there is a cop turning left on the east side of the intersection. So the cop gets the green light and turns left so I start to turn right. Now I have a fart canister on my car but it is not that loud. Evidently the cop heard my car and made a u-turn down the road (completely out of his way) speeds up to me and turn on the blue and reds. I was really mad because I know I wasn't speeding so I pull over. He walks up and says oh blah blah blah we are cracking down on people with "modified exhausts" cars, trucks, etc. He said it has been in the statute for a while and that is illegal on public roads but it is ok on private property. So now I have 30 days to return it to stock or I get to pay a lovely $71.50 for the ticket and risk getting pulled over again. So I have to go to the junk yard tomorrow and take the stock cat-back off of a cavy and bolt that back onto my car. They should refund me my 40 bucks I paid to get the muffler on. The header is still gonig on of course but I just wanted to rant. Thanks

By the way I live in Orlando, FL near UCF

Re: Yea so guess what the cops want now.

hehe sucks for all you guys.....arkansas, as far as i know of, doesnt have any exaust db levels, either that or they just choose not to enforce them. my roommate has pacesetter shorty's with true dual straights and hasnt had a single problem, nor have the countless other redneck trucks running around....lucky them i guess

Re: Yea so guess what the cops want now.

i liked the sound of open dp for a while, but my car is getting ridiculous. My car is a really big pain in the ass to drive for the most part. I have no power steering, no AC, the clutch is uber heavy, and right now i need to notch a 1" section out of the frame because my manifold smacks it under hard acceleration because the engine torques hard. Not to mention, it is SOOOO loud right now! It sounds like a NASCAR, but once that turbo spools you can here it in the exhaust...its nasty!! I suppose that's something you SRT folk are used to, but the turbo on my GSR is roughly 2.5x larger so it takes longer to spool....

He's a pig, not a mechanic. He IS NOT qualified to decide what's wrong with or what's been done to your exhaust system.

Re: Yea so guess what the cops want now.

Yea I know it. But it is too loud and people are complaining. Yea right. When I drive its not that loud seriously and when I am cruising you can barely hear it. So I weny to the junkyard and happen to find a silencer on the ground and into the pocket it went. So now I have that in and you cant hear it at all. Now I have to find a cop to sign my paper then take a useless trip out to the courthouse.
