Re: yep yep..gixxer 4 me
Do yourself a favor and stop trying to keep up with more experienced riders with a death wish. Get comfortable on your bike before you go 150+. The fact that you don't even know how many gears you have indicates you have no business going that fast. I don't mean to sound preachy, but I like our hobby to be fun (and SAFE) for all involved, with minimal organ donors.

Re: yep yep..gixxer 4 me
No offense to the OP, but I hope this is a bogus post.
If not, congrats on your ride.......BUT A. Looks like you have been riding for 2 years?....Pick and choose when you decide to put your life on the line....at those speeds its over in a heartbeat. When it comes to cycles, speed has more to do with fatalities more than anything else (no protective gear will save your life when you impact a static object at 100mph+........simple physics/biology) I think helmets are rated for impacts at 30-35mph or so (I maybe wrong there...but at 100mph+ speeds it just doesnt matter how good your helmet was when the blunt-force trauma to your chest was fatal). B. 750s are not built for their top end.....they are all about accelleration...I dont know yur Suz's top end, but....if you are confused about if you have another gear or not, look at your tach. C. As stated by previouse posters getting on/in any manual transmission vehicle and NOT knowing how many gears you have is silly at best. (see E) D. As far as worth, cycles are very dependent on location......a cycle worth $10,000 in Cali, is worth only about $7,500 in North Dakota. E. I googled this in 3 seconds, you should have done the same... 2004 SUZUKI GSXR 750: Compression: 12.3:1 Bore x stroke: 72.0 x 46.0 mm (2.8 x 1.8 inches) Fuel system: Injection Valves per cylinder: 4 Fuel control: DOHC Cooling system: Liquid Gearbox: 6-speed final drive: Chain Physical measures Dry weight: 163.0 kg (359.4 pounds) Seat height: 825 mm (32.5 inches) If adjustable, lowest setting. Overall height: 1,145 mm (45.1 inches) Overall length: 2,075 mm (81.7 inches) Overall width: 715 mm (28.1 inches) Wheelbase: 1,396 mm (55.0 inches) Chassis and dimensions Front suspension: Inverted telescopic, coil spring, fully adjustable spring preload, rebound and compression damping Rear suspension: Link-type, gas/oil damped, fully adjustable spring preload, compression and rebound damping Front tyre dimensions: 120/70-ZR17 Rear tyre dimensions: 180/55-ZR17 Front brakes: Double disc Rear brakes: Single disc Speed and acceleration Other specifications Fuel capacity: 17.00 litres (4.49 gallons) F. Have fun and good luck Oh yeah, G. Keep the shiny-side UP Last edited by ckeanem; 12-12-2006 at 09:10 PM. |

Re: yep yep..gixxer 4 me
Actually, the easiest way to figure out what your bike is to look at the title. If it didn't come with a title, expect it to be wrecked/and or stolen. Especially since the tail is mismatched. Looking at the frame vin number and engine vin number and doing a little research to compare with other 750s. If the frame and engine VIN don't match, it's salvaged.
Also under the seat, stickers will display all over what the cc is unless someone intentionally peeled it off. Secondly, the other and most apparent way to determine is simply look at the tach and see where it redlines, the 750s always redlines lower than 600. Doing a bit of research on my part reveals that the 600 redlined 15k, while the 750 redlined at 14k. And for starters, check where the engine pulls relative to rpm, powerband. etc. If you're in 1st gear and can only redline around 65 mph, you have a 600. On the other hand, if the first gear is geared long and goes over 80 mph, it's a 750. Of course, any rider with less than one season of riding could tell the difference blind-folded. A 750 no way feels like the 600, the 750 has a whopping rush of top end power, mimicking literbikes. And when you mention you got it off ebay, it just makes sense. Hate to say it, but for that price, you could've picked a similar 750 from a private owner and you'd be sure what it was with clean title too. And when you say it doesn't run like you thought, I am not sure if you referring to mechanical problems or power of the bike. Because that bike has enough to power to get anyone in trouble. Nor should you have trouble hanging out with any other bike. I'd chime in and say Congrats, but it's best to get it checked out by dealer/reliable mechanic. It's a bad choice for a first bike though. Ride safe. ![]() From my observation, looking at just most of the fairings, the color scheme looks like the 2004 750. Here's one for reference:

Re: yep yep..gixxer 4 me
Is that a yoshi pipe I see? When you smash your bike to bits trying to run 186 mph can I have it
? Just messen with you but sreiously I would take a local safety course for novice riders. Most of us have taken it am I right? I know I did and it actualy made my insurance a little cheaper. Just a thought.

yeah MSF is some good stuff, IMO it should be mandatory. when we ride in large groups you can always pick out the guys that haven't taken it.

Re: yep yep..gixxer 4 me
not to flame ya here Killer, just want to re-cap and clarify.
you bought your first bike in june '04 so 2.5 years experience (not including time out for your stack) you crashed within a week (going by your post dates) trying to ride with guys you didn't know. you got back on it in march/april 05 got a speeding fine in september 05 then after all that time ask about basic maintence of the chain adjustment started asking Q's about a kawasaki 636 with lost ignition keys, changing bike frames (sound sus much) and exhausts. who owned this bike? asked which is better a 636 or 750 and now your doing pretty much the top speed on a bike which has been re-birthed illegally or has been crashed bad enough or repaired cheaply enough to warrant putting a 600 tail piece on a 750? i had a 750 (ok it was a 96 but still applies) i changed the gear ratios and my real max speed was just under yours but my speedo showed 13% higher. all factory speedo's are out by up to 12% at the top end. i hope you have safety gear on at these speeds. you've experienced road rash. now you'll need a GP suit to survive a slide at 160mph i understand how you may not have known which gear you were in at that speed. on my track days i ride the bike, not count gears. overall, if the bike is 100% ok, its not a bad bike to continue your riding on. better choice than a liter bike. i'm thinking your problems could be input related. you need to be aware of what your doing. don't risk others lifes. PULL YOUR HEAD IN. learn to ride on a track where you'll realise how hard is it to really ride at speed. on an australian car site a members wife was killed by a squid. could you live with that.

lol aussie i like that...researched my whole life lol....thanks for everyones comments.....i do know its a 750....it juss doesnt feel any differerent from the 600 i had thats what i meant...also...i ride my bike EVERY day i can and for as long as i possibly can...i LOVE to ride more than anyone....(and as a side note i juss got kicked out of my gurls house for choosin to ride my bike rather than sit in the house with her...which sucked..but ill get back in).... and i do wear all the protective gear...and the people out here speed lol...hate to say it but ...running from the cops, speedin and weavin in and outa cars is what people do out here..not all the time..but more than most im sure.....for the most part i really dont like goin over 120...i like short burst of speed but nothin to long...but at the time we were on a straightaway and tried to see how fast i could get it...there were no cars or nothin like that..thats the only reason i tried.....and its not that i didnt no how many gears i had...it was i wasnt sure what gear i was in....i wasnt really thinkin about it...a little more woried about payin attention to the road at the time and keepin some type of control of that machine...and yea true...i dont really no much about the machanics of the bike but i try to learn bits and pieces every time i can...but like the specs i really dont understand what everything means...and really dont have anyone to kinda guide me...but im learning little things everytime i go out...hope of covered everything...and i dont just ride cause its cool i ride cause i have a love for it and its a part of me...and i plan on moving further south just so i can ride my life away all year round =)

Re: yep yep..gixxer 4 me
thats a 750 up there /\ you can tell by the length of the muffler.
Also I rode my 03 allstare for 2.5yrs. My first bike, after 6months I dumbly took it to fuel cut 187mph . Then found out its pointless going 187 because it felt the same as going 100. You MIGHT live dumping at 100... might... 187 no. My next bike will be sprocketed down so I can do wheelies. Who cares about top speed specially on the street! Plus gearing down will help in turns soo much!
