2002 330ci suspension

I'm having a problem with my bmw suspension. I have the sport package and everything, but whenever i go over a pothole or small little bumps in the road it makes this clanking sound...does this mean i need a whole new suspension??? or is there an easier way to fix this problem??? help is greatly appreciated

Has work been done to the suspension lately? Is the sound coming from the front or the rear (left or right)?

Re: 2002 330ci suspension

I have a feeling, and you may not believe me, that you have a broken exhaust mount. The one I am talking about is located after the cats along side the trans. I have seen several of these break and cause a clanking noise while driving over bumps.

If not that, then another question. Do you have aftermarket brakes (NOT BMW)? The reason why I ask is that I have also seen, where aftermarket brakes do not fit as well (due to mfg trying to use same pads for different models), and when driving you will hear a clanking noise, but noise should go away when braking.

I have also seen a rock ledged in between the thrust plate and the oil sump. Have you looked under vehicle to ensure that all the suspension components are not worn out? Just some ideas for you to check, let us know how it goes.
