Brun Porsche 962C: Repsol decal nightmare!!

As you see, the car is a porsche, the decals are Zastava-reliable!

I m having a lot of trouble getting the decals on. They are too big and very difficult to handle. But my good old pal Microsol saved the day.

Any comments are highly welcome.

Enjoy!

Update;
slightly weathered wheels
The decals have been microsolled again, and nearing perfection, one more layer of microsol will do the trick, IMHO

As I did the car before I didn't even try on this one. Specially the area's above the wheelarches...they're a sheer nightmare.
So I traced the decalsheet and transferred it onto the wide tamiya masking tape....and airbrushed them.

Needed to do this anyway as I wanted to make the "unlucky"#16 car (LM 1990)

Nearly finished, the decals are improving, except for a 6 number I missed, but no biggie, it will be fixed soon.

Hope you like!

Re: Brun Porsche 962C: Repsol decal nightmare!!

Hi there!

Time for som progress. I've weathered the kit a bit to give it a real "endurancy" look. The only extra work I need to do on it is put another 6-decal on the right side of the kit (the old decal was torn) and I have to glue the rear lights on. But they need to dry just a little bit longer. The very tricky decals are coming just fine. Add another layer of Microsol and they are flat.
That's all for today!

Cheers,

Stijn

I also have this decal. But I did not thought that it will be so diffucult to apply.
What color did you used for the body?

Re: Brun Porsche 962C: Repsol decal nightmare!!

Hi Geronimo,

Could it be possible that you have the Studio 27 Repsol decals? The ones I used were part of the Hasegawa kit I've bought a couple of weeks ago. The decals in this set are often too big, and the cutaways for the nacaducts were all too small. In the end, the decals came out just fine, but a lot of patience and Microsol was involved.
I used Motip Dark Blue, so I don't know if it's a perfect match. IMHO it does the trick because on most of the reference pictures I have, the colour tone is very dark.

Cheers,

Stijn
