Revell Honda/Acura NSX WIP

Started this kit for a while now, I believe since Dec 05, things have kept me from making progress but it's summer so I have some free time. First WIP street btw.

Completed Thread here:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=658515

Revell snaptite kit 1992, don't let this Snaptite fool you! It is more than you expect, this is pretty much the same kit as the 98 Release from Revell, except for brakes, wheels, and mold colour.
See here:
http://www.internetmodeler.com/2000/...vell_acura.htm

I am changing the wheels on the kit since it's not accurate in size, along with addition of scratchbuild rotors. Also going to do scratchbuild flip up lights like Tamiya and movable steering as the original rack was not movable.

Light covers cut

Rotors

The lights

TC 005 Weds, but will get bigger tires for rear

nice window

OH SH*T

More SH*T

One of them I stepped on, while the other cracked during sanding. If anyone has spares from Tamiya, or etc, and is/ are willing to donate, then it'll be great, or sell for a good price. If not, then probably not a big problem, I can scratchbuild the front and sides, but not the rear though. Perhaps get some from Japan, but that's last resort.
Well, windows are not the only problem, my kit was from ebay, didnt come with instructions, but was avaliable on 1999. Special thanks to Peter Mosca for scanning the Tamiya booklet, and Captain Mark for one of the scans too. Tamiya works since parts are mostly identical. AF wasn't as helpful though, PM quite a few, but little replies or just not in mood to help.

I've cut and ditched the rear axles and filled in with metal tubes using old boots from kit, as the axles will provide a spinning mechanism for the Fujimi wheels. It'll also look more realistic since the axles will spin and spin individually, differential.

All primed up

looks good

Damn love the flip ups, I kept staring at them, they work great. Friend's Camaro, just helping with the paint job, but soon was stripped again, too much dust.

The engine detail is great on this one, beats Tamiya by far, it has engraved alternator, and detailed throttle body. Tamiya is more like smooth surfaces in those areas.

Rotors installed onto uprights

Steering works!! just a test... rack was cut to separate from the two upper supports and shortened (too long), still need to add something so the rack doesn't fall off from the rods

Will be back for more updates

Thanks for looking

Alex T

Cool project! Nice work on the pop-ups!

I've actually never seen a Revell NSX in progress before. I've always hoped to find a dozen of this kit on clearance somewhere, but no dice...

Guilty as charged. Sorry.

Here's how I'll make it up to you:

PM me your mailing address, and I'll see if I can find a box sturdy enough to get it to Canada in one piece.

I've been known to have trouble with windshields myself, in the past...

This is coming together nicely! You got lucky on the glass. I love the flip-up lights, nice detail...but can you motorize and light them?! What body color are you thinking ?

Thanks! I guess I am pretty lucky, but not totally sure, still need to get a PM back. As for motorize and lighting, I don't have experience in that yet, but I might look into it. I'll probably paint this car in one of the original 90s colour scheme, black roof and yellow body.

Stick with this one, stragely I like the way it's turning out.
I was gonna say why didn't you just build the Tamiya kit but this looks like a good challenge.
Yellow/black sounds good to me!

Oh, no, it's totally yours... Dan here knows about reallocation of windshields, too. Also for a Honda. Weird, huh? It's only taken me 4 years to pay it forward...

I love the way they look with the black tops. Go for it!

Thanks guys!! This kit came with tail lights in red (as seen in my pic and the link), so the two white reverse lights would be painted on top over with silver and clear, it still would look fine.

Nice work so far, sorry about the broken windows. Not to complicate things, but I'll be surprised if the Tamiya ones fit.

Re: Revell Honda/Acura NSX WIP

Ok.. some updates!!

engine all done!

another one

chassis

Interior almost done

Exhaust and various engine parts

Most parts are painted but I just took a few pics. Engine, chassis and interior were referenced from brochures and videos so the colours are as close as i could get. All parts are hand painted, I am quite happy with the results, not a brush mark at all. I'll probably be spraying the body today or tomorrow, but i'll also need to test fit the windows to know if the body needs any trimming. (will be waiting)

Re: Revell Honda/Acura NSX WIP

Happy New Year and holidays guys!!
I've finally got some updates and pretty much finished the model. First year university has taken a lot of my time... I wish I was back in highschool....

I've learn a lot from this kit. Especially about controlling a double action airbrush... here's my new Badger 155

Interior with seatbelts etc....

I want to get this in before the new year... so will be back for editing!
Damn it... the post says 1/1 07... but I'll still treat it as last day of 2006 as the Pacific hasn't hit New Years yet....9 30pm.

Front wheel axles...custom made to replicate Fujimi style

The chassis part finished, I also made two support bars that run from wall to chassis

The body painted, not yet polished, just a test fit

Body all polished and waxed, I am quite satisfied as this is my first time ever finishing a body job without clearcoat, I thought I try the polish and wax technique. All thanks to the great tutorials!! Washes, windows and decals all done too. Scratch built the interior rear view mirror. The windows are smaller for this model, but I managed to make them fit the Revell body. Oh yeah, hmm I prove the impossible windows wrong..hehe. Thanks a lot to Jay once again!!!

All done! It's about 10:50pm PT
