93 PAU surges
My 93 PAU has an annoying issue.....When I get on the throttle hard and your tearing down the highway the motor seems to have a jerking/surging feel (gasses-cuts out gasses-cuts out) I'm hoping someone has some info on what it is I need to check/replace. The exhaust does have a hole in it right before the muffler would this have anything to do with it?

Re: 93 PAU surges
Wires, plugs, air filter, fuel filter and check the SC drive belt. You need to keep a good belt on the SC drive, preferably a "Gates Poly V" belt. Some of the El cheapos will slip and cause surging. Also, check the coils. Do not skimp on buying parts. AC Delco, Belden & MSD wires with NGK TR55, AC, or Autolite plugs are a good choice.

Re: 93 PAU surges
Surging... How many miles on it.?
It could be fuel demand problems, or camchain, cam tensioner. Plugs fail at high pressures or ranges too! Cracked plugs or ignition spark can jump off wires if their bad. The higher compression in the cylinder causes a higher resistance across the plug gap and a weak wire may jump anywhere, or even inside a coil pack. Check for codes.. (Camshaft sensor) Good Luck

Re: 93 PAU surges
The Ultra has around 70k on it. I did change the plugs (Delco) wires (Belden) fuel filter and air filter (fram) but have not yet changed the belt for SC, the car currently is in storage for the winter @ my Grandparents garage. There are no codes present. When I bought the car from a tied up estate, they said it sat for a while....the only code it had was O2 sensor which I changed and cleared out with battery disconnect.
