Miss After Fuel Filter Change

I changed the fuel filter on my 01 LSV6, it was horribley nasty, looked like rusty well water draining out the back side of it. Started the car up, idled fine, so I changed the oil and left it overnight. Went to drive it the next morning and it has a distinct "blip" or miss at idle and under acceleration. I would have expected if it was air in the system it would have eventually purged out, but it's still doing it. No CEL as yet but I am gonna drive it around more to see if it keeps happening. On a better note, I replaced my Clockspring and black box so I have no airbag light anymore. Dealer wanted $350 parts and labor, but I got it done in 45 mins and $100 for parts.
So for now, all is well assuming the miss goes away.

Re: Miss After Fuel Filter Change

How nasty was the oil you drained out, and did you replace it with synthetic?

It sounds like you may be experiencing the common failing coil misfire, often caused by oil leaking into one or more spark plug well(s). If the oil was a bit on the thick side when drained, and fresh 5W-20 was installed, the fresh oil may have an easier time finding its way past the plug well gaskets.

If you can get access to a high end scan tool with the component parameter capability, you can monitor misfire counts on individual cylinders even if they are not high enough to set a check engine light (CEL).
