runnin wires...

wassup peoples... i got a lil problem... i want to run a wire from on top my dash to the battery... hehhe... cuz i got a knight-rider style light that i think would look kick ass on my car... but the control module needs to in the passenger cabin... sumwhere ontop of the dashboard preferrably.... but the problem is that the control module that turns it off and on and the speed has the power wires... so i need to run a wire from the on top of the dash to the battery... so what the easiest way to get from the driver's side dash to the battery??? thanks for all da help...

ps. theres actually two wires to b run from the control module... the power wires to a ground and the battery... and then the control line that goes all the way up to the grill where da light is...

Thru the firewall. On my accord, I pulled away the carpet under passenger side and there was a little black cap. I pulled that out and ran my amp wire thru that. Or poke a hole in one of the ruber things that goes through the firewall and pull it on the other side. Just don't make too big of a hole or it will leak water and cold air. Or yet another option is to drill the hole in the firewall and put a rubber piece in there to seal it up.

Then its just a matter of mounting the control box and drilling a hole somewhere in the dash or whatever you need to do to get the wire from under the dash to the top of the dash.

completly unnessacary first off. you can run the power wire to a 12v fuse underneath your dash to lets say your parking lights, and the ground to any peice of metal, as for the wire that runs to lights themselves, the firewall is easily accessible by pulling back some of the carpeting by the passenger footwell, this will expose the rubber grommets that lead to your engine bay, pop one out and drill a hole for the wire to go through, and run them to your lights, making sure to avoid any spinning objects or very hot parts of the engine.

just reach your hand under the dash until you find a seam and pull it back, it will just pop out of the clips holding it, then just push the clips back in later.

i looked today and rolled back the carpet... but there was nothing under there... but i did see this large mass of wires coiled up covered with rubber that wasnt under the carpet... it was right behind the glove compartment... i think it leads outside into the engine bay right behind the battery... is that what im lookin for?? i'll post a picture later today... im waiting for the battery in my digicam to charge... oh... and where is the nearest ground on the driver or passenger side??? ive decided to put the control box sumwhere discreet... it looks obtrusive on top of the dash... imma head out to radio shack today too... imma get 12v source so i can see if this light actually works... i dun wanna do all that work and then the light is busted...

Hook the light up to the battery without mounting it to test it. Red to Red and the black wire on the light to a piece of metal. It will save ya some $$.

i thought about that... but then i looked at da battery and the terminals are covered in that anti-corrosion goo... fortunately, the doode in radio shack had an opened 12v battery which he let me test it on... and it works... WOOHOO!!... oh yeah... da pix of that thing i saw behind the glove box will b in my next reply... didnt convert the image yet...

oh.. i was thinkin... i was lookin at da owners manual... and it says there are fuses in the fuse box that are not used... i was thinkin about hookin up the light to an unused fuse instead of tappin into another one... will that work??? what size fuse should i get if it works??? or is it just best to tap into a 12v source?? which one is the best to tap into??

sorry i have so many questions... im a newbie and i wanna do the mods to my car myself... but i dun wanna mess anything up... hehehe... i dun wanna tap into a source and my doors unlock when i turn on the headlight or fry sumthin... thanx...
