sr20det spits oil
I get oil stains (i think its oil) on my rear bumper, its coming out of the exhaust. Only when I drive it hard. The car doesn't smoke or anything and runs really good. Could that be from worn valvetrain or is it the turbo?

Re: sr20det spits oil
I would do a compression check, and it its good i would look at the turbo first. If the turbine shaft seal (looks like a metal ring) is bad, it will spit oil. If thats alright i would look at your valve guides and valve seals next.

Re: sr20det spits oil
if it was oil coming from the turbo, wouldnt it burn in the exhaust and probably smoke. that is the problem i have been having. at least thats what i think the problem is.i put another turbo onbut my threads are stripped in one of the oil conections so i have to get that fixed before i can run it to see if the new turbo fixes the smoke.

Re: sr20det spits oil
man, i would personally say its just exhaust fumes, maybe a little bit of a rich condition, other than that i just couldnt see how the oil would make it all the way through your hot exhaust.

Re: sr20det spits oil
I think it does blow smoke when you are driving it hard but you might not notice it, cause oil or fuel isnt gonna make it that far out your exhaust without burning some. I had white puffs of smoke coming out only when downchanging hard and it was the turbo. I would guess that a cloud of oil or fuel is condensing on yo bumper.

Re: sr20det spits oil
ive seen cars that do that, and its usually piston rings or lands badly damaged. no shit theres actually oil that spits out when you rev it, like someone with bronchitis spits out phlegm when they cough.

Re: sr20det spits oil
im talking about oil spitting out of the tail pipe. its because too much gets into the cylinders past the rings and then gets dumped out the exhaust when you rev.
