I got a Big Race In a few days!!
ok I have a big race coming up with a honda civic EJ 95 coupe with a Jdm D15B LSD and all... I'm packing a 94 cx hatchback powered by a d16z6 i'm think it will be a good race my car is lighter and i rode in his car i don't think the vtec works or it just don't pull hard but it easily revs to 8500RPM mine on the other hand my only revs to 5'500RMP so thats my question.you have hear and feel my vtec kick in but i'm thinking it should at least go to about7,500 - 8,000 RMPs because its like vtec kicks in then i have to shift. if i could rev high i think i can take out the JDM D15b out no problem. i also have a spark plug wire that pops out ever now and then could that stop my car from reving high? plz help my find out why my car doesn't rev high for the sack of all the D16z6 out there..lmao

Re: I got a Big Race In a few days!!
You should be shifting right at about 7200 if you have a z6.

Re: I got a Big Race In a few days!!
If he's shifting at 8500 rpms then you should win anyways, because that's pretty far out of his powerband. All he'll be doing is putting unnecessary strain on the engine, not making any more power by doing that.

Re: I got a Big Race In a few days!!
If you have a spark plug wire comming off that could definetly be your
problem. A lot of things could cause that though, sounds like your Vtech isn't kicking in. You may have to have it tested at the dealer on the analyzer. It could be something simple too, like a fuel filter or restriction in the exhaust or catalytic converter. The diagnostics at the dealership can test all of it in minutes. It costs, but it's the best way.
