I just removed my turbo so i can still drive my 180 while i hunt down another turbo, can the oil and water lines that went to the turbo be plugged or do they need to flow?

Re: Turbo dead

I welded up a box to replace the turbo so i could get to work and back, i have put a rebuild kit through the turbo and it it feels beautiful compared to the play that was in it before, but i just cant seal the exhaust side 100%, if i fill it with oil and let it sit then it will leak oil slowly i am starting to think even a brand new one would do that. Anyone gotta new T25 lying around that they could fill with oil and see if it leaks out the exhaust side? I figure it would be a similar seal on yo piston rings, and if yo motor was left upside down it would leak past the rings. I want to put it back in the car tonight...so any peer pressure to do so would be appreciated. PS Shaft balancing is for hippies.

ive had turbos do that and then sold to people with no complaints so apparently it wasnt an issue. The last T25 i had didnt do that though. Make sure you have the shaft seal installed properly and you should be good.
