06 civic ex

The '06 model civics and up are all equipped with a "drive-by-wire" electronicly controlled accelerator. The salesmen of course all say it makes it more responsive because it's electronic and digital and whatever. I find it to be extremely sluggish. Has anyone tried to replace their gas pedal and run a cable straight to the throttle?

Re: 06 civic ex

do you have an auto or a manual?

Now, i don't have a calibrated timer on my foot or anything, but when i press the gas it seems to take about a 1/4 sec to see the tach, or hear the rev go up. Same with letting my foot off the gas, a little bit of lag before it revs down. If i'm shifting nicely calmly and slowly, no one can tell the difference. but if I'm wanting to shift quick
i let off the gas pedal, punch the clutch, it over revs... then i shift, let on the gas, and drop the clutch (2nd to 3rd at 4500), it LUGS!!!
is this an ecu timing problem?

Re: 06 civic ex

My car is a manual, and I haven't experienced the problem you are describing. I would take it in and have it looked at.

Re: 06 civic ex

manual here also. i haven't experienced any lag either. car seems to go when my foot wants it to go.

the thing i find weird, personally, is the gear ratio. i can't shift as fast as i want to. i've got to practice timing it right or i'll end up feeling like i'm ripping the car's eyeballs out as i try to accelerate like a maniac.
