Re: best time to activate vtec

Actually it is just below the stock point, having a more fluid smoother activation is better. When you feel that little boost in power, it is because the engine has already peaked in power and the vtec activation has basically given it a different power band. In reality, if you were to not feel it at all then it would be better.

It's going to be different for EVERY engine. It depends on bore/stroke/cams duration/cams lift/head port size/head port shape/exhaust diameter/intake manifold runner length/intake manifold port size/intake pipe diameter/intake pipe length/air filter/muffler size/muffler design/catalytic converter/header runner length/header collector point/injectors/etc.

Get it?

The best spot is usually somewhere between 4000 and 8000 RPM's. You have to dyno tune your car to find out.

Re: best time to activate vtec

On my GSR, it engages at 4400 (and i have no IAB function) which was the best point according to my tuner, because it coincides with the spool time on my turbo......that was on my old setup....
