Wink Issues with a Protge 96 clutch

A couple of months ago I got a 96 protege and I am having a small issue. A couple of times the clutch pedal is getting stuck on the 1st and the reverse shift, meaning that I cannot move the gear box to neutral and it is giving me a hard timeI heard that the clutch is hidraulic, and use the same power steering fluid, I noticed that there is a small leak of power steering fluid , I don't know if that is related. Also I am wondering if the issue could be related to the transmision fluid really old and needs to be replaced.

Any ideas, very much appreciated

Thanks

Re: Issues with a Protge 96 clutch

I don't understand what you mean by a stuck clutch? Is it sticking in the down position or does it refuse to go down? If you have a clutch problem it should affect shifting in all gear speeds, hower you should be able to get the transmission out of gear without using the clutch. Sounds like you may have a transmission porblem in the shifter linkage or internal shifter forks. Changing the transmission fluid probably will not not help.
