my 97 accord is not cycling the coolant, seems thermostat is opening as the upper rad hose is warm-hot, except the bottom hose is cool to touch, car runs ok for a while but overheats after about 10-15 mins of driving, rad cap was busted when i removed i was pretty much in pieces i am wondering is anything might have fallen and got the rad plugged/clogged? help

Re: 97 accord overheating, thermos seems ok
When the thermostat opens, the bottom hose suppose to get hot too! That means the circulation started. The temperature of the lower hose should be just slitely (few degrees) lower. From what you described I can tell that you need a new thermostat.
A pretty easy job. Sam

Re: 97 accord overheating, thermos seems ok
I would start by replacing the thermostat. If that doesn't solve the problem you may have a plugged radiator and need to reverse flush it. Best way to do that is after it is removed from the car. The next fix maybe a water pump.
