Re: A moment of silence...56k killer

I've thought about getting a kill switch sometime also. My parents talked to Josh today when they saw him at the mall and I guess there have been like 5 more Honda thefts this week.

Actually, it was manual when I bought it. I didn't convert. As for the center console, I had a GSR console with armrest in it actually. And for some reason, the god damn fuckers left it. Almost insulting. But yeah, I still have it and it's still in good shape if anyone wants it.

yeah i seen cruise controls on the steering wheel..wasnt sure if honda had cruise with there manual cars back then. Like Ami said u still got alot left to work with..do u wanna rebuild her? i know being in ur situation can be sumwhat traumatizing and make u wanna give up on the honda scene..tis why im curious to what u wanna do. i woulda never thought WA would have ppl out stealing hondas..but its not like ur off the map or something..my boy was stationed in FT Lewis and had his prelude broken into a few times..funny this is when his 4 yrs was up he came home to Reading..45mins from Philly and the 2nd day of being home they stole his prelude and stripped the hell out of it..sucks..i notice meth is the poison of choice up there

Re: A moment of silence...56k killer

yeah you guys should come to tucson for a day of 2. i literally stare into the eyes of 5 honda thieves every night. they are all over the place. most drive the nice cars like a 2-5 hatch with all integra gsr suspension and all that good stuff. then you know they stole it. i hate tucson. but my car has a fuel pump switch hiden of coarse. it has a ebey alarm, i used to have a button that would start the car since my ignition switch was gone. but here a good i dea i had. ok there are 3 way switches at auto zone. get one of those and connect the ecu power source to the middle of the switch. then connect the fuel pump to either side and on the other side connect a power wire going to the starter signal. its kinda tricky on how it works. first of all the car needs to have the key turned so the switch gets power, then the fuel pump needs to build pressure to start the car so you turn the key turn it to the fuel pump side then quikly go to start it up once started you switch back to the fuel pump side so it will run constantly. simple and cost like 5 bucks maybe a little more for some wire if you dont have it already. i thought of this a while ago and still havent done it but hey my car is in the back yard.

Re: A moment of silence...56k killer

A few hidden kill switches, an alarm hooked up to a hidden power supply, as well as a removable steering wheel are the best defense against theft.
This is absolutely the best removable steering wheel:
http://www.tekniqauto.com/

Others like momo and sparco send the same steering wheel to everyone who purchases one. But, the tekniqauto steering wheel is different...each one is unique, much like someone's DNA. So, someone can't come along and just snap on a steering wheel, it has to be your steering wheel.

Re: A moment of silence...56k killer

damn dude, that sucks big time. Those damn cops need to get out and do their job. Dust for prints and there could be an instant arrest.

Good idea with the fuel cut-off switch... I think I might look into somthing like this.

did you forget we are in America and you are in Canada?

reality here is they aren't going to "waste" their time on a 15+ yr old car when it's 1 of thousands that was stolen on that day. tomorrow there will be a thousand more stolen.

fuel cut off is false comfort. they just push the car around the corner and tow it off. happened to a friend in cali.

you want piece of mind? throw an air suspension on. I know when I had my set-up and the car was aired out you:
a) couldn't get a jack under it
b) couldn't push it
c) if wired cleaver, almost impossible to by-pass rendering the car stuck in the down position

I know, let's be realistic. fuel cut off is more obtainable than air.....

however, if my name was let's say 90civicrider and I had one of the sickest 4gs ever....i wouldn't stop at just the cut-off.

most theives have a system to get in the car, get possession of the car, and get out as soon as possible. if you can do something to slow that process...it then becomes an issue of if they have the time or move on before they are caught. so think outside the box

you know those "boots" the cops can throw on your car? some company came out with the personal version....again, let's be realistic. it would suck to put on everytime however, it gets the job done. if I saw a boot on a car I wouldn't bother with it and move on to the next honda.

yeah those boots are nice..also used for repo's..i think they a good idea if ur civic isnt ur daily driver..yeah its true ppl around here easily get in the car and just push it around the corner cause sumtimes the cars are just too loud to attempt starting it infront of the house..alot of these thieves are just as knowleagable of these civics as some of us are and it makes it easy to detect these kills and alarms..ive installed alot of alarms and theres only so many hiding spaces..just disconnect from the brain and hope it starts.

That's why you don't hook up the alarm to the front battery. Experienced thieves can cut that within a fraction of a second of braking into the car. Honestly, alarms are just annoying sounding, added weight anyway. As for kill switches, have a few, and have them stashed in inconvenient places...in the trunk, under the seat, inside the rear storage compartment (CRX). Or, just remove your ecu or alternator fuse when you park the car.

The link I posted above for the quick-release steering wheel is absolutely golden. No steering wheel, they can't turn the car. And they'll be pissed when they realize their momo/sparco steering wheel that they conveniently have won't fit. There's absolutely no getting around that one. Plus, it's just Uber-cool to be walking around with a $300 italian steering wheel on your backpack.
